Louis graduated from Central St Martin’s School Of Art. He is a director, editor and producer of films and documentaries, and also creates video imagery for theatre, dance and opera productions.
He co-founded the independent documentary production and distribution company November Films. For November Films, he directed the documentaries; Beyond Biba – A Portrait of Barbara Hulanicki (SkyArts/Sundance Channel), Alexandre De Cunha – Mix (Thomas Dane Gallery/Arts Council England), I Call Myself a Haunted House (Marlborough Fine Art). November Films documentary releases include – Beetle Queen Conquers Tokyo, The Moo Man, The Punk Syndrome, Pandora’s Promise and After Tiller.
Credits as a theatrical video designer include: Orango (BBC Proms/Royal Festival Hall/Helsinki Festival/Baltic Sea Festival Stockholm), The Emperor (Young Vic), What Shadows (Lyceum Edinburgh), To Sir With Love & The Rotters Club (Birmingham Rep), The Etienne Sisters (Theatre Royal Stratford East), The Funfair (Home Manchester), Stravinsky – Tales (Royal Festival Hall), L’Enfant Et Les Sortileges (Royal Festival Hall), Amphytrion at the Schauspielhaus Theatre in Graz, Bright Phoenix (Liverpool Everyman), Sluts of Possession which premiered in Holland, and the Edinburgh Festival, Unleashed (Barbican Theatre), The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui (Liverpool Playhouse), The Ballad of the Sad Café (Moulins des Paillard, France), 5 Soldiers Interactive film (RKDC/DCD) installed at the Herbert Art Gallery, Coventry and the Stadtmuseum Dresden, Beside the Sea (Purcell Room, South Bank Centre),Wings of Desire (IDFB/Circa), There Is Hope (RKDC UK Tour).
Other film projects include: As Editor; In Mid Wickedness (Tbilisi International Film Festival 2013), The Young Vic Patrice Chereau tribute, and Best, directed by William Oldroyd (Lady Macbeth) which won the Sundance Film Festival short film prize.
Louis is currently shooting Black Country, a feature length documentary looking at the region in a visual and non-narrative manner, to be released in 2018.
